Better late ....

The last challenge of this year, because (as always) Laura will take a few weeks off. Well deserved is you ask me :-)

Create a Holiday tile, is what she asks us to do. It took me quite some days to find out what I would do with this challenge, but this afternoon I knew. OK, a bit late, but better late then never isn't it!?

I took a black zendala tile and first traced a star in the centre. Then tangled around it with Sakura Metallic Gelly Roll pens and after that I decided to put some little star stickers on it. As well as the 'Prettige Kerstdagen' in the middle of the star.

'Prettige Kerstdagen' is Dutch for 'Happy Christmas Days.
And, that is what I wish for all of you, maybe with family or friends, maybe alone, whatever you do, have a good time!
And for 2019 I wish you all love, warmth, light and good health.

A bit of blue

A new month, so the challenge is an UMT as always. 123 O'Leary by Antonine it is.

I never saw this tangle before (I think), so time to try.
It is quite easy to draw and after two lines filled with it I thought Ixorus would be nice in between; some Diva Dance for a finish.
I liked the tile then, wanted to give it some color and ..... should not have done that :-(

A duotangle

A duotangle with Pokeroot and Fengle is what we have to do for challenge 377.

Like a lot of other tanglers I'm not a Fengle fan, but Pokeroot is a different story. However I use Pokeleaf much more often.

Last night I started this challenge on a tile had I colored with a Gelli Plate and used a black pen. But first I started drawing Fengle a few times on a piece of paper to get the hang of it.
I loved doing this tile, had a real relaxing time.

Then, this morning, my scanner didn't work, so I made a photo of my tile:

Only one String Theory

After a week without the 'Linky machine', in Challenge 376 it's there again. What I really like was the creativity last week, most of us did put the link to our tile in Laura's comments and so we still could see what other tanglers did.

This week is a 'string theory' one and while we only have to make one tile, we could also make four and have a mosaic. I would have liked to make four, but I just don't have the time in the coming days, so only one tile from me.

I took a grey tile and loved working on it. This paper is so very smooth and soft for the pens. I also liked the string to tangle in. The end result is quite pretty, at least that's how I feel: I like it! Hope you do too :-)

To Linky or not to Linky :-)

Already Thursday and we do have this challenge, but yet no Linky Machine to put our work in. So, for now I'll just put a link to my blog in the comments on The Diva's blog.

To be honest, I did not really like this tangle, but after drawing it twice, I went on and started liking my tile. At the end a big A appeared and since it's the first letter of my name, I think that's funny.

Hope Laura will still put the Linky Machine on, so everyone can use that ans show their work.

Oeps: a splotch ....

'Splotch-Tastic' is what we are supposed to tangle this week. After reading this on Monday, I had no idea what to do with it, but then, in the night from Tuesday -> Wednesday, I suddenly knew: Hollibaugh with black pen on the 'normal' tile and white pen on the 'splotch'.
And so I did last night and liked it. I decided to leave some spots open so it is not too busy.

Last Saturday I went to a workshop Gelli Plate; that was fun and I made some nice things. As you know, I like to tangle on colored backgrounds and I have made quite a few in this new way. Also nice to use for card-making!
Some examples:

Thoughts about non dominant tangling

And ..... again this year the most difficult (and hated) challenge that I can think of: Tangling with your non-dominant hand (for me the left one).
Some people can do things with that hand, but I'm not one of them. I am totally right-handed.
I was thinking of skipping this challenge, but did it anyway.

Tried to do what I read some people do: appreciating the right hand more and then I started thinking about the way my husband writes. He has (light) Cerebral Palsy (also called spastic) and writing is very, very hard for him. Maybe almost impossible.
So, what am I whining about?????

After that I created my tile, still disliking tangling this way, but appreciating what I can do much more.
Wobbly of course, but made with gratitude!

Dewd

Already Friday, a bit late for me to post the challenge tile. My husband was away to UK for a week, visiting his children and grandchildren, so I had all the time in the world. And ..... I did less (tangling anyway) then usual.
Yesterday he came home safely and in the evening I did my Diva tile.

'Dewd' is the tangle to use in this challenge.
I think I used it before, but that must has been a long time ago. It's a nice tangle, but hard to combine with others.
This time I used a white pen on this blueish paper and I think the result is not too bad.

A mistake

Onion Drops is one of the tangles for Inktober and Laura uses this for her challenge this week.

A nice and easy to draw tangle, but ......... I started on the wrong place on my tile. Wanted to put it in the bin, hesitated and decided to go on like I always do with the challenges.
If there are no mistakes is Zentangle, then I have to go on and see what I can make of it.
Well, nothing really nice, but .... as I wrote above.....

Mezzanine on blue

Again the first Monday of a month, so in Diva terms that means 'UMT'-day.
This time we are supposed to use Mezzanine by HeidiSue. I think this is a very elegant and easy to draw tangle and I liked working with it. My only (small) problem is, how to combine it with other tangles.

For the first since a long time, I used a blue tile; paper I bought a while ago and love. So I used a white pen and after drawing the two Mezzaninnes I decided there was no need for more on this tile. A bit of a frame and that was it.

ORBS, orbs and orbs

First I like to say, that I'm so sorry for Laura and her boys, that the new (school)year starts with a lot of illness. Hope they recover soon!!!

And then: ORBS, the base for our new challenge. Love this one, love it a lot.
Since I saw the last post of Laura I had in mind what I was going to do with it and last night I sat down and tangled, tangled and tangled a bit more. Had a real nice time tangling, soooooo relaxing to do this.

As you see, I used a pre colored tile (the colors are much brighter in real life) and made a mono tangle with just some aura's. I like the result; nothing special, but just nice to look at.

The next tile is one I did after the first week of Laura’s return:

Lines, lines and more lines

Straight lines are always calming The Diva and after a very stressful week, that gave her the idea for challenge 368.

I'm not sure my tile meets the 'lines only', because maybe Knightsbridge is a bit different. This is what it became however:

Two tangles I love

And again a challenge. Only now I find out how much I missed this weekly event. I didn't tangle much in the last months and since last week I'm back to it. So again: Thank you Laura!!!

The subject for challenge 366 is to use NZeppel or Crazy NZeppel. I chose the last one because I like that the most.
Took a yellow colored tile to keep the color of the summer a bit longer.
I did like this challenge and had some zen time last night.

The next tile is one I did last Sunday (I love this Hexonu tangle):

Back and back!

Laura's back!!!! And I do like that.
For some time now I was looking at her bog weekly, because I was hoping she would be back and (most of all) feeling better.

'Back' is also the word for the challenge of this week: 'back to basic'.
I do like that, back to how we all began and it's still so very relaxing to tangle this way.
So last night I did this challenge and had a great time doing so.

This is what it became:

A not so puffy Puf

This last week of Laura's Birthday Month is a monotangle: Puf by Carole Ohl.
I think I never did this tangle before, so a nice time to do so. At east, that was what I thought, but after starting I quickly found out, that I'm not really friends with Puf. The 'puff' that I see in Laura's tile and in the step out is nowhere to be found in my Puf.

Well, as there are still no mistakes in Zentangle, I finished my tile and here it is for you to look at:

I will probably don't comment to your work much this week, because I will leave for Switzerland on Friday and stay there with my daughter for some days.

A remake and a 'button'

Poor Laura and Artoo are ill, at least they were at te start of the week. I really hope they are better by now.

'Remake of a classic' is what we are supposed to do this challenge.
I did read the 'remake', but not so much the 'classic'. I was just looking at a tile that I liked and wanted to do again.
So, I ended up with my classic from last December :-)

For the new one, I used a tile of crepe paper, that was sent to me in a swap but I forgot who sent it. Maybe someone will recognize it!? I like it anyway.
I only looked at the old one for a moment and then made the new one. When I had finished and looked again I was surprised how different it developed.

Last week I also make my first zenbutton. Not a great success, but I like it as a zendala.

Aura's and more aura's

Last Saturday Laura had her birthday and because of that, all challenges in May will be favorite challenges of hers.

This week the theme is 'Laura's aura's'.
I always use aura's a lot because I like how they make tangles look. So for this challenge I only used more aura's then usual.

The next tile is made over the weeks in our hospice:

Somnee and a zendala

A new month and that means an UMT in Diva language!
And one of Laura herself: Somnee. I used this tangle before, but that's a long time ago. It's easy to use and so it's quite relaxing.

I used a tile cut of Elefantenhaut and tangled in black and (finally used my new set of) white Sakura pens. Shading was done with a white pencil.

I have been working on a zendala for some time. It was just there to go on whenever I felt like it. The tile is 15 x 15 cm and colored with the Eco Dye method. Even saying so myself, I like it a lot :-) The only thing I regret is that I added Cadent in the end; I should have left those spots open.

Amanda on cardboard

'Amanda' day, again this year. For the 7th time!!!

I really thought not to join this time, because I was afraid that it would be more of the same.
But then there was a parcel in the mail (I ordered a book) and I saw the logo, a bright blue circle and that made me pick my scissors and cut out a tile.
That blue (part of the) circle reminded me of the sky and around it I used tangle 'golven', that word is Dutch for waves.
Finally I grabbed a brown pen, because that represents the earth. A simple tile, but I think it does represent the subject.

This tile was a bit hard to tangle on, because it is corrugated cardboard.

Before

and after

Shattuck vs Tripoli

A duotangle this week and Shattuck vs Tripoli are the lucky ones.
For as long as I tangle (2011) I love Shattuck and use it all the time, but I never use Tripoli for the simple reason that I cannot master it.
So yesterday evening I tried again and a miracle happened: I can draw it now!!! So relieved, such a joy :-)

I found the combination of the two tangles a bit hard and my tile became some dull, but after giving it some contrast with blue, white and black I think it's much better.

The next tile I made for a guest in our hospice; I did not get a change to give it to her, so I thought to show it here as a tribute to a very special lady I met.

Finger Stringer

Challenge 359 is a String Theory and we are asked to trace our fingers.

I took a tile of blue paper that is not all even, so a bit harder to tangle on, but I like it a lot. This was a nice and quite relaxing challenge and this is what I did:

Paradox and 70

Since I was 40 I never really celebrated my birthday, just my children and my best friend came to visit.
Last Sunday it was my 70th birthday and I did celebrate, in fact because my daughter convinced me to do so, telling me that it really is a reason to celebrate because lots of people don't make it to that age and I think she is right. That I still don't like this ageing thing, is a different matter. You, tanglers of about this age, how do you feel about getter old(er)?

So, I invited some friends and ordered catering for an Indonesian buffet, which was fantastic:
I'm glad I did this, because it was a good and warm evening.

Up to the challenge.
I love Paradox, so I loved this week's challenge to use it in a monotangle.
Loved every minute of working on my tile last night. Even love the result!

My name

This was a very busy week, so I only worked on the Challenge of this week yesterday night.
I started late (to be honest, I had plenty on time earlier, but I was just hanging in my chair in front of the TV), about 22:30.

So, I took a 3Z tile and started with the letters of my name. Some tangles around it and ... just a bit after 23:00 I finished it.
Not much more to say about it, so here it is:

Verve, almost forgotten!

Oh, I really like challenge 355!
Verve is a tangle I used a lot, but the last couple of months I seemed to have forgotten it. So, I am very pleased to see it as the tangle for this week.

I started with a tile I colored with Ecoline, a while ago. Then made my 'string' with squares and filled them with Verve. The question was if I would draw other tangles in it, but decided not to.
What would you have done, more tangles or not?

A Christmas tile in spring

So, almost back to 'normal' health-wise :-)
I was soooooooooo happy to go outside again, especially in this (almost) spring like weather. And being back to work; just great.

The first Monday of the month, so it is an UMT: Siri, by Simone Menzel. I had to concentrate quite a bit, but that made it sort of 'zen' experience. I used a green tile and like the black and white pens on it.
To be honest the end result feels a bit Christmas-y, but nevertheless I like it.

The last heart challenge :-)

I'm late, but there is a reason for it.

Last Monday night I became ill again, luckily not the flu again, but still very unpleasant: a nasty cold! Now, on Saturday morning I'm still coughing a lot, but I'm already a lot better! Because it was extremely cold for The Netherlands, I have not left the house since Monday and I will be glad to go out again.
It was a weird week, Kees was also ill, he had a light pneumonia, so both of us doing almost nothing except for coughing :-(

So I only started my zendala for the challenge on Thursday evening and finished it yesterday.
We had to make a heart zendala and I decided to start with a little heart as the center of my zendala.
The resultant is simple but quite nice a think.
To be honest, I'm glad this was the last heart, because I'm not really into hearts.
However it was a lot of work for Laura again, so: Thanks Laura anyway!!!

Some time ago my friend Gerla and I tangled some 3Z tiles and framed them. I think this is very pretty to look at. The photo is not very good; the face you see mirrored in the glass is from the TV :-) I couldn’t make another photo because the things is not here anymore. But it will give you an idea of what we did.

Finally!!!!

Finally!!! Yesterday I found the new Gelly Roll Bright White pens in a shop here in town. It took a while for them to come to the Netherlands, but now we can buy them too.

'Nested Hearts' is the subject of challenge 352. I did not know the word 'nested', so learned something again. Next to the pleasure of the weekly challenge, there is always the benefit to learn more (and hopefully) better English by participating.

I decided to work on this special paper with only black pens and pencil and kept it quite simple.

Heart of a champion

Hearts again this week and also the Olympics as a theme.
I found that very hard to do, so it took me some days to think of how to manage this challenge.

I started with five rings and little hearts between them (sorry, not really a heart string) and then colored the rings.
Some aura's and then I had no idea how to continue. After some time sitting there and looking at the tile I decided to make a background with a pencil and so I did.
Here is the result:
