Amanda!!!

First I like to thank all of you that gave such kind comments about my cat Tedah last week. Those comments were very much appreciated by me.

And for now, Amanda day. I had a bit of a hard time to decide what to do this year. On Monday I started coloring some tiles in earth colors.
The one I used for the challenge is the best one I think. I traced a glass and the circle represents our planet. I filed it with Betweed because that shows the way everything and everyone on earth is interwoven with each other.
I used the Sharpies I got as a present for my birthday last month.

Something personal and (of course) the challenge

Last week I did not comment much and after Friday I didn’t comment at all.
The reason is a very sad one: Tedah, our very old cat, became very, very ill. For quite a while you could see her getting old and having some problems walking (arthritis). But, she still had fun in life and liked nice food, warmth and being stroked.
Last Thursday she stopped eating all of a sudden and you could see she was not happy anymore. On Friday we went to our vet and he said she had a kidney problem, a urinary infection and was a bit withered (and that while she was drinking all the time) and, most of all, a very, very old lady. We never knew her age because in 2002 I got her from a animal shelter; we guessed she was about three years old then.

So, we went home with her, taking some special food (a kidney diet) and she had got an injection with antibiotic. We had to come back on Sunday for the next injection. Yes, on Sunday, Easter Sunday, this very nice vet was coming to do that on his day off!!!
But then it got worse and worse with her.
It was hard to watch, because there was so little left of our happy Tedah.

Tedah (a name from Wicca that means 'fierce beauty')
On Sunday we spoke to the vet and together we decided that we did not want her to suffer any longer. So we had to make that (almost) impossible decision and let her go.
Later on we brought her to the animal crematorium, that was actually closed but also there was a very nice lady that came for us especially.

Today the house feels terribly empty and we already miss her.
She was certainly not the friendliest cat I ever had, but absolutely the funniest and so very much my cat.

So no you know why I did hardly comment last week.
Normally I don't share much personal stuff here, but now I felt a need to do so.

Then this week's challenge.
Laura has asked us to spill coffee, tea or whatever fluid on a tile and use that as our string. I dropped some coffee on the tile

and when it was dry I started tangling. I liked doing this and the tangling was very relaxing; something I can use in these days.

I did turn the tile after tangling

Circles and squares

Even after a week with all family members being ill, Laura made it to the challenge!

She gives us a Circle Square String Theory this week.
As soon as I read this, I liked it: simple and clean. The thing was to find some round and square objects to use as a template. I found a template with lots of circles (did not even remember having that) and for the squares I took a few tiles in different sizes.
Then I chose a gray tile, a long time ago I used one of them.

So I started tangling and had some zen time. After finishing I liked it; I only should not have added the aura’s in the right bottom corner. A lesson learned: don't overdo it :-)

Ever since I work in a hospice as volunteer (since last August) I tangle there at the kitchen-table when it's quiet. Sometimes just a few lines, sometimes a bit more.
It's a common thing now for people seeing me there at the table with a tile and a pen; I love the fact that two other volunteers started tangling too!

These are the tiles I did in March:

UMT Frunky

As always at the first Monday of the month it's UMT-day. This time the lucky tangle is Frunky by Katharina Königsbauer-Kolb. Like Katharina writes on her blog it's a quite relaxing tangle, but to be honest not one I will probably use a lot.

I liked working on this tile however. As background I did Bales in soft pencil, not very visible on the scan.
