May 4th, so different in Canada and the Netherlands!

On her blog Laura tells us that May 4th is 'Star Wars Day' in Canada. So different from this day in the Netherlands, here May 4th is the day we remember the people who died in World War II. At 20.00 hour we keep two minutes silence to honor those men and women.
Tomorrow is 'Liberation Day' and there are festivities everywhere in the country.

I was downstairs and didn’t' want to go upstairs to get a tile (yes, that's very lazy) so I took the only one I had there and it was a black one. I hardly ever use these, but totally unexpected, it went quite well.
First I did the UMT of the month, Brella by Bunny Wright, and then I just let things happen, without thinking. It was so much fun to do!!!
I'm quite happy with it.

On the web-log of Laura 'I am the diva' you can see what other tanglers made of this challenge and, if you want (and why not?) upload your own tile.

I do appreciate you visiting my blog a lot and I hope you will leave me a comment. I want to thank every one that left me a comment last week. Those comments always brighten my day!

Blessed Be!!!
Annemarie

  1. Okay, Annemarie, I am definitely losing my mind. I immediately saw a woman's face with a headdress of ribbons and feathers, wearing many jewels. I'm glad you at least had a black tile to play with, or you might not have wound up with this one :)
I found out you special day when I read about it on Sabrina's blog. It's good to know that our brave are honored in such a way. Thank you for sharing that with the rest of us from other countries.

  2. I love your tile. It looks so festive, like you're just about to go out and celebrate your country's holiday - and yet it's on a black tile, to remember.
I really like learning about the world through my zentangle friends around the world. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Lovely tile, Annemarie. I'm really partial to white on black, and this one worked up perfectly. I probably shouldn't be looking at other peoples' tiles this early in the week; I'm afraid I will be influenced by all their beautiful work.

  4. What a beautiful tile! I love the dangles at the bottom and your ribbons are so pretty! Nice contrast to the very angular lines of Brella. Great (lazy day) choice of a black tile!

  5. Very pretty on the black. Like the hint of color and the additional tangles surrounding the main tangle. Also like the different sizes you used for 'Brella.

  6. Annmarie, how fitting that your tile is black and white to honor the fallen heroes. Nicely done.

  7. I love your tile Annemarie. I do like white on black. I didn't realise that you have your rememberance on 4th May. Here we have it on 11th November. Strange that I should mention WW2 as well in my post with the training for D-day on the south coast of England.

  9. Mooie tile, Annemarie!

  11. A beautiful Tile, Annemarie. Just letting things happen creates such wonderful freedom in a design. Having so much fun in the process is priceless.

  12. Your piece is beautiful! I too love how the black seems to be symbolic for remembering the hardship and death of the war and the pink seems to be about new life and a more tender commitment to our fellow man. A world without wars.

  15. Love the black tile and the texture of it. Your Brella interpretation worked very well. Isn't it nice that when we relax and let the pen have it's way, we end up with beautiful work that turn out just as it should? Thank you for sharing the information too about your Liberation Day. There is so much to learn from our friends here on the internet. Beautiful tile!

  16. Heel mooi.

  19. I like drawings on black paper but i think this technique is more difficult. Your composition with its choice of tangles is interesting.
