Dare 65

Toevallig (nou ja) keek ik zaterdag begin van de middag op de site van Erin en jawel, de nieuwe Dare was er al.

Een vreemde en niet al te makkelijk vond ik. Ik wist er dan ook niet goed raad mee en kwam niet verder dan wat hieronder staat.

Op de site van Erin, TheBright Owl, kun je de inzendingen van anderen zien en als je wilt je eigen zendala uploaden.

Early afternoon last Saturday I went to the site of Erin and YES, the new Dare was there already.

A weird and not so easy one I think. I did not really know what to do with it and this is what I came up with.

Monotangle 18: Knightsbridge

Avontuur nummer 18 al weer.

Knightsbridge, een tangle die ik leuk vind en regelmatig gebruik, maar …......... als monotangle erg lastig vind ik. Ik heb zelfs halverwege overwogen deze weg te gooien en opnieuw te beginnen, maar dat is tegen mijn (zelfgekozen) afspraak altijd de eerste te plaatsen.

Het blijft voelen als een wonder, dat toen hij klaar was, ik heb niet eens zo erg vond.

Niet de mooiste ooit, maar aardig en ….. het proces was prettig.

Dank aan iedereen die mijn blog bezoekt en misschien zelfs een opmerking achterlaat.

Already Adventure 18.

Knightsbridge, a tangle that I like and often use, but …........... found it very difficult as a monotangle. I even considered getting rid of it when I was half way and to start over again, but that is against my appointment (with myself) to always put my first attempt on my blog.

And, the miracle happened again; when it was finished it was not to bad at all. Not the best ever, but just nice and … the process was pleasant.

Z-inspiration; gratitude

Dilip Patel is een twee wekelijkse uitdaging begonnen met als doel meditatieve uitingen d.m.z. zentangle te creëren.

Aan de hand van een woord, dit keer 'dankbaarheid' een zentangle maken terwijl je je gedachten over dit onderwerp laat gaan. Een mooi challenge denk ik, voor mijn gevoel dichtbij de zentangle-gedachte. Ook een lijst maken met namen van mensen die je dankbaar bent; de lijst moet ik nog verder maken.

Dilip vraagt om een stukje tekst dat beschrijft wat dit woord voor je betekent.

Vreemd, ik heb zoveel om dankbaar voor te zijn, zoveel mensen door mijn leven heen die ik dankbaar ben, maar mijn eerste gedachte ging naar een klein meisje.

In een tijd van veel verdriet en verlies, mijn scheiding zo'n 25 jaar geleden, liet ik de hond uit omdat dat moest, zelf was ik het liefst alleen in huis met mijn verdriet.

Een klein meisje liep een stukje met me mee, al pratend zoals een kind doet. Ze vertelde over het draadje dat ze haar hand had; dat ze daar zo blij mee was en dat ze het zo mooi vond: een 'schat'. Ik luisterde maar half, was opgesloten in mijzelf.

Dan ineens dat handje dat haar draadje in mijn hand legt en ze zegt dat ik het nu mag hebben en goed moet bewaren.

Tranen, veel tranen.

Ik heb dit kind nooit weergezien, maar ze gaf me veel meer dan dat draadje. Ze gaf me warmte, onbaatzuchtige liefde en een kleine opening in mijn verdriet. Graag zou ik haar nu (ze moet inmiddels eind 20 zijn) vertellen hoeveel dat gebaar betekende, maar meer dan liefdevolle energie aan haar sturen kan ik niet.

Het draadje heb ik in mijn dagboek geplakt.

De zentangle is voor haar.

Dilip Patel started a two weekly challenge of creating a meditative expression through zentangle.

Using a word, in this case 'gratitude', to make a zentangle while your thoughts are exploring the subject. A beautiful challenge that is close to the zentangle-thought, I believe. You also have to make a list with names of all the people that you are grateful to. My list is not finished yet.

Dilip asks us to write a story about our gratitude.

Strange, I have so much to be thankful for, so many people throughout my life that I am grateful to, but the first thought that comes to my mind is about a little girl.

In a time of great sorrow and loss, my divorce about 25 years ago,I walked the dog because I had to, I myself preferred to stay in the house with my pain.

A little girl walked with me for a short while, talking like a child does. She told me about the thread she had in her hand; that she was so pleased with it and that she thought it was so beautiful; her 'treasure'. I only listen half to her, am locked up in myself.

Then, all off a sudden the little hand that puts the thread in my hand en she says that I can have it now and have to look after it well.

Tears all over me.

I never met this child again, but she gave me so much more then the little thread. She gave me warmth, unconditional love and a little gap in my sorrow. I would love to tell here (she must be end twenties by now) how much that gesture meant, but all I can do is sending her loving energy.

I glued the little thread in my diary.

This zentangle is for her.

Stencil fun and project

Een lastige challenge deze week! Het is de bedoeling een soort string te maken met een sjabloonachtig iets dat je hebt. Ik heb alleen sjablonen voor kerst, dus liep ik rond in de keuken op zoek naar iets dat geschikt was. Eindelijk vond ik iets, hoewel ik het niet geweldig vond.

Ik weet niet eens hoe het heet, maar je hebt er twee aan elkaar en draait er bijvoorbeeld vlees mee om in de pan.

A difficult challenge this week! You have to make a sort off string with a stencil or something you can use as a stencil. I have only got some stencils for Christmas, so I was walking around in the kitchen looking for something to use. At last I found something, I'm not thrilled about it, but it had to do.

I don't even know how it's called, but two of them are attached and you use it for turning meat while baking.

Dit was het begin van de tile, de string dus, hoewel ik later de ovaaltjes heb weggehaald (ja, voor een keer gum gebruikt).

This was the beginning of the tile, the string, later on I removed the four ovals (yes I used an eraser this time).

Het tanglen ging wat vreemd, maar wel vanzelf. Toen hij vorderde begon het steeds meer op een kever te lijken en dat was ook wat Kees zei toen ik hem liet zien.

Goed, een beetje futuristische kever dus :-)

Tangling was a bit weird in this way, but it went just fine. When it was 'growing' it began more and more to look like a beetle. That was also what Kees said when I showed it to him. Well OK, a futuristic beetle it is :-)

Mijn vriendin Gerla (die me ooit wees op de Zentangle methode, waar ik haar nog steeds erg dankbaar voor ben) en ik hebben een aantal maanden gewerkt aan een 'project'. Telkens als we in haar atelier zaten, gingen we hiermee verder. Allebei aan een kant en om de zoveel minuten omdraaien en daar verder gaan. Het is iets dat ik iedereen kan aanraden, het is ontzettend leuk om te doen.

Het resultaat kun je hieronder zien.

My friend Gerla (she was the one who told me about zentangle two years ago and I'm still very grateful for that) and I have been working on a 'project' for some months. Every time we were in her studio we went on with it. Both working on one side and after some time turn it and go on there. This is something I can recommend to all of you, because it is a lot of fun.

A 'hot' dare

Een Dare met een extra, zoals altijd de eerste zaterdag van de maand. Een lastige ook; het sjabloon vullen met tangles die beginnen met de letters van de woorden 'heat' of 'hot'. Dat allemaal i.v.m. de hitte in Sonoma county, waar Erin woont.

Het is in Nederland (gelukkig) niet zo warm als daar, we hebben hier eindelijk gewoon mooi zomerweer. Toen ik zaterdagavond buiten wilde tanglen lukte dat niet erg. Buren een paar huizen verder hadden besloten hun BBQ op te luisteren met harde muziek en dan steeds hetzelfde nummer.

Ach, binnen tanglen kan ook ….

Ik ben begonnen met Hollibaugh in het midden, gevolgd door Eye-wa, Allium, Track lightning en Tipple. Het centrum vullen met goud leek me wel een goed idee ter ere van de zon. De kleur is niet erg natuurgetrouw met de scan, in werkelijkheid is het mooier.

A Dare with an extra, as always the first Saturday of the month. A difficult one; fill the template with tangles starting with the letters of the words 'heat' or 'hot'. All of that because of the heat in Sonoma county, where Erin lives.

Luckily it's not that warm in The Netherlands, we finally have nice summer weather. When I sat outside Saturday evening to start tangling, it did not really work out. Neighbours from a few houses further away decided to have a BBQ with loud music and the same song over and over again.

Well, tangling inside the house is also possible …..

I started with Hollibaugh in the center, followed by Eye-wa, Allium, Track lightning and Tipple. I thought it was a good idea to fill the center with gold, all in honor of the sun. The scan did not do justice to the real color.

Summer and Cadent

Eindelijk een aantal zomerse dagen in ons land, wat ziet alles er ineens vrolijker uit. En waar ik mateloos van geniet; overal ruik je bloeiende planten en struiken.

Uiteraard dus gistermiddag buiten het avontuur getekend. Hoewel ik Cadent veel gebruik, vond ik het lastig er een monotangle van te maken. Het werd een saaie tile en toen ik hem aan Kees liet zien, zei hij dat het 'niks' was. Fijn trouwens die eerlijkheid!

Ik besloot er felle kleuren in aan te brengen en denk dat het nu beter is.

At last some summer days in this country; all at once everything looks so much friendlier. And I really enjoy smelling plants and bushes flowering everywhere.

So of couse I drew the adventure outside yesterday afternoon. Although I use Cadent very often, I had a hard time fitting it in a monotangle. It became a very dull tile and when I showed it to Kees, he said it was 'nothing'. I do love this honesty!

I decided to add some bright colors and think it's better now.

UMT Birdie Feet

Begin juli en dus een UMT deze week. Het is Birdie Feet geworden; een tangle bestaand uit maar drie lijntjes.

Eerlijk gezegd kan ik er niet veel mee en het enige leek me er aura's omheen te tekenen. Nee, deze zie ik me niet vaker gaan gebruiken, hoewel een een mooie uitdaging is er nu iets mee te doen.

Het maken van deze tile was plezierig (en daar gaat het toch om bij Zentangle), hoewel ik niet weg ben van het eindresultaat. Maar omdat ik (blijkbaar net als Laura) met mezelf heb afgesproken altijd de eerste op mijn blog te zetten moet het zomaar.

The beginning of July and so it is a UMT this week. Birdie Feet is is; a tangle with only three lines.

To be honest I have to say that I can't do much with it and the only thing I could think of was drawing aura's around it. No, I don't think I'll use this one more often. However it is a great challenge to work with it now.

I had fun making this tile (and that's what it's all about with Zentangle isn't is?), but I'm not really content with the end result. But (apparently just like Laura) I always blog my first attempt, so it has to be this one.
